A Frontline Focus at the 2023 Diversity, Equity & Belonging Forum

More than 200 associates gathered in Las Vegas, NV, for Bimbo Bakeries USA’s 2023 Diversity, Equity & Belonging Forum. The event celebrated BBU’s continued progress and included more than 100 frontline leaders who, along with all attendees, were inspired to bring their learnings from the Forum back to their teams in bakeries, sales and distribution centers and offices across the Company.

Tony Gavin, President, Bimbo Bakeries USA, kicked off the Forum sharing his enthusiasm for advancing BBU’s commitment to Diversity, Equity & Belonging and welcomed the inclusion of the frontline at the event. “To meet our workforce, workplace and marketplace goals, we need every associate on our journey, especially our frontline associates. You are where the business happens every day and I want you to be energized and engaged in creating the culture we want at BBU,” said Tony.

The forum included keynote speakers Tariq Meyers, founder and CO-CEO of Untapped, and James Sun, founder of Dramabeans, who shared diversity and inclusion best practices and lessons learned as well as small group discussions on topics like allyship, intersectionality and leadership.  The event also featured an awards ceremony celebrating associates who have made significant contributions to the BBU’s Diversity, Equity & Belonging journey.

Attendees closed the forum by participating in a Day of Impact volunteer event by packing 60,000 meals for U.S. Hunger, an organization working to address food insecurity and signature partner of the Sara Lee brand.
